In 2022, we saw Hardik Pandya take the captaincy armband and he finished the season on a high by winning the title. Similarly, a few other Indians might be in line to display their captaincy skills. While a few teams change their leader, a few get an opportunity when the designated captain is not available. Due to the changes in the Indian Team in recent months, a few players have risen in prominence. Hence, they could become an IPL captain soon.

1) Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah recently led India in a Test match. With Rohit Sharma struggling for fitness and Kieron Pollard out of form, Mumbai Indians will be required to get a few more names in the leadership group. 2) Suryakumar Yadav

If Jasprit Bumrah does not get a chance to captain MI, it will be Suryakumar Yadav who would be doing the honours. Being a top-order batter, he would be a natural successor to Rohit. Moreover, SKY has the experience of captaining in domestic cricket on many occasions. Therefore, he is also one of the players who could become an IPL captain in a few seasons.

Prithvi Shaw is one of the Indians who could get a chance to captain an IPL team for the first time soon. The Mumbai youngster has done well with his captaincy, so far. He has won a couple of trophies and recently led Mumbai to the Ranji Trophy final. Delhi Capitals will need a deputy for Rishabh Pant and Prithvi Shaw will be the perfect option for the role. It will also help the youngster groom his skills in this department.

4) Krunal Pandya

Whenever KL Rahul was not on the field in IPL 2022, it was Krunal Pandya who took over the captaincy from the Lucknow Super Giants’ designated skipper. Hence, if Rahul misses a game or two in the future, it will be Krunal Pandya who will take the responsibility. Having led Baroda in the past, Krunal has the experience to do the job.

5) Deepak Hooda

Deepak Hooda is also one of the Indians who could get a chance to captain an IPL team for the first time soon. Considering his red-hot form, Deepak Hooda’s prominence has increased now. While Krunal can fill in the duties, for the future, Deepak will surely be seen as a captaincy candidate for LSG. Therefore, he might also land an opportunity.
