IPL 2025 Mega Auction is just a few weeks away. The retention list of all 10 teams came out a few days ago, and five-time champions Chennai Super Kings have retained five players. CSK have retained MS Dhoni, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja and Matheesha Pathirana in their squad for the new season.
Dhoni will take care of wicketkeeping, Jadeja and Dube are reliable Indian all-rounders, Pathirana is the game-changer death bowler, and Gaikwad is the captain and opening batter. There are some important spots still to be filled in the CSK team, and here’s a list of five players they should target at IPL 2025 Mega Auction.
1. CSK should target Rishabh Pant at IPL 2025 Mega Auction
Rishabh Pant has been the successor of MS Dhoni in the Indian team as the all-format wicketkeeper. With Dhoni having just a few years of cricket left in him, Pant could be his successor in the CSK team as well.
2. CSK should target Devon Conway at IPL 2025 Mega Auction
Devon Conway formed a fantastic opening combo with Ruturaj Gaikwad at the top of the order. Gaikwad loved batting with Conway in IPL 2023, and CSK should try to reunite to this pair for the upcoming season.
3. Marcus Stoinis
CSK have always loved overseas all-rounders. Be it Sam Curran, DJ Bravo, Albie Morkel, Andrew Flintoff or Daryl Mitchell, all of them have been a part of CSK. Australia’s Marcus Stoinis could be the next addition, mainly because he scored a hundred at Chepauk last season.
4. Ravichandran Ashwin
CSK needs a quality spinner in their side. Ravichandran Ashwin is in the final phase of his career, and it will be perfect if he gets to have a farewell run in his home franchise, with whom he has won IPL and CLT20 in the past.
5. Mohammed Shami
Considering the way Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur performed in IPL 2024, CSK may look to end their ties with them. It will be great for the team if they can sign Mohammed Shami, who has been surprisingly released by Gujarat Titans.
