The second phase of IPL 2021 will begin this September in the United Arab Emirates. Unfortunately, not all overseas stars will be able for the competition because of the international matches in that window. Hence, the teams will have to look for replacements, and they could look for someone from the Vitality T20 Blast.

In case you didn’t know, the 2021 edition of the Vitality T20 Blast is currently underway in England. The players who perform well in that competition can earn the IPL franchises’ attention and possibly secure a contract as a replacement player. Here are such players from Vitality T20 Blast who can gain this way.

1. Carlos Brathwaite is one of the top wicket-takers in the Vitality T20 Blast

Caribbean all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite has been a part of multiple teams in his IPL career. However, the pace-bowling all-rounder did not get a single bid at the 2021 IPL Auction.

He is still available to be signed as an overseas player’s replacement. Brathwaite is playing for the Birmingham Bears in the T20 Blast 2021. So far, he has played five matches and taken nine wickets at an economy rate of 7.23. He also played a knock of 44 runs versus Nottinghamshire.

2. Chris Green could gain IPL contract because of his good performance in Vitality T20 Blast

Chris Green is a South Africa-born spin bowler, who was a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders team in IPL 2020. The 27-year-old is a bowling all-rounder, who plays for Middlesex in T20 Blast 2021.

Like Carlos Brathwaite, Green has picked up nine wickets in five games. He has also played some innings with the bat. Hence, an IPL team that needs a replacement for an overseas bowling all-rounder can sign Chris Green.

3. Naveen-ul-Haq

Afghan players have done well in the Indian Premier League. Three Afghan players earned contracts from the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2021 edition of the IPL.

Another Afghan player can join the IPL because of his performance in the T20 Blast. He is pace bowler Naveen-ul-Haq who has picked up nine wickets in five matches for Leicestershire in T20 Blast. Naveen can be a decent replacement option for teams needing a foreign fast bowler.

4. Marnus Labuschagne

Australian batsman Marnus Labuschagne surprisingly went unsold in the IPL Auction 2021. He is the leading run-getter in the ICC World Test Championship, but it seems like IPL teams ignored him because of his inexperience in T20s.

Labuschagne has performed exceptionally well for Glamorgan in T20 Blast 2021. The Aussie player has amassed 261 runs in five innings and has also scalped six wickets. He can be a fantastic all-round option for IPL franchises.

5. Alex Hales

Alex Hales is one of the best T20 openers in the world right now. Still, the IPL franchises have ignored him. The right-handed batsman is playing for Nottinghamshire in T20 Blast.

In five matches for Nottinghamshire, Hales has scored 141 runs at a strike rate of 163.95. His highest score is 96*, highlighting that he is in excellent form. Hales could be a great opening option for IPL teams if they consider him as a replacement player.
