MI pulled off a masterstroke ahead of the IPL 2024 Auction. The Mukesh Ambani-owned franchise traded out Cameron Green to the Royal Challengers Bangalore and traded in Hardik Pandya from the Gujarat Titans. MI also traded in Romario Shepherd from the Lucknow Super Giants.
The Mumbai Indians batting lineup looks quite strong on paper before the auction. However, the Mumbai-based franchise is still in need of some quality bowlers and all-rounders to strengthen their squad. Here are five players MI should target at IPL 2024 Auction.
1. MI should target Wanindu Hasaranga at IPL 2024 Auction
With Cameron Green out, Mumbai Indians have the overseas all-rounder’s spot vacant in the playing XI. By going hard for Wanindu Hasaranga, Mumbai can not only strengthen their spin department but also get a reliable batting option in the lower order.
2. MI should target Kartik Tyagi at IPL 2024 Auction
Jasprit Bumrah, Akash Madhwal and Hardik Pandya will form MI’s pace attack next season. However, Mumbai should have a proper backup option as well, and express pace Kartik Tyagi fits that role.
3. Gerald Coetzee
Jofra Archer is no longer with the Mumbai Indians. The five-time IPL winners would like to have an overseas pacer in the team as well. South Africa’s Gerald Coetzee can be a decent choice.
4. Chetan Sakariya
Mumbai Indians can also bring in a left-arm pace option to strengthen the fast-bowling unit. Chetan Sakariya, who did a great job for Rajasthan Royals in 2021, can be considered for the role.
5. Mujeeb ur Rahman
Piyush Chawla is a senior leg-spinner of MI. He will need support if the pitch is spin-friendly. Mujeeb ur Rahman from Afghanistan can be a fantastic addition to the bowling unit.
