Rajasthan Royals had their best IPL season since 2008 this year. The Jaipur-based franchise finished second on the points table with 18 points from 14 matches. RR then made it to the final of the season, where they lost to the Gujarat Titans.

RR had one of the strongest squads this season, but there were some players who could not make much of an impact while playing for the franchise. The team management may look to increase their auction purse by releasing the following five players from their squad:

    1. Rajasthan Royals might not retain Daryl Mitchell

New Zealand cricket team all-rounder Daryl Mitchell could not play his natural game in the middle-order for the Rajasthan Royals. Playing his debut season, Mitchell scored only 33 runs in two matches at a strike rate of 75, which might lead to his release.

    2. Rajasthan Royals might not retain Rassie van der Dussen

Another overseas middle-order batter who could not score big this year for RR was Rassie van der Dussen. The South African batter aggregated only 22 runs in three games. His strike rate was 91.66, while his batting average was 11.

    3. Rajasthan Royals may release Jimmy Neesham

RR need better all-rounders in their team. Jimmy Neesham is yet to produce a match-winning performance in the IPL. He played two games for RR this year, scoring 31 runs and picking up no wickets. RR can open up on some overseas spots and look to sign some better players.

    4. Navdeep Saini

Indian pacer Navdeep Saini played two games for RR, scalping two wickets. His economy rate of 12 may force the RR team management to think about his retention.

    5. Nathan Coulter-Nile

Nathan Coulter-Nile is an injury-prone player. He bowled only three overs for RR this season, conceding 48 runs. RR can look to retain rising star Corbin Bosch ahead of Coulter-Nile for the next season.
