5 players who could not perform well for CSK but did well after being released

The Chennai Super Kings have been the most consistent franchise in the Indian Premier League history. They have played ten seasons and made it to the Top 4 in each of them. Although their IPL 2020 campaign has not been so impressive so far, the fans expect the Chennai-based franchise to make a comeback in the second half.

Speaking of CSK, some great players like MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Faf du Plessis, DJ Bravo, Scott Styris, Stephen Fleming, Makhaya Ntini, Lakshmipathy Balaji, and several others have played for this team in the IPL. It is a general perception all the players perform their best while donning the yellow jersey in the IPL, here are the five players who could not perform well for CSK but did well after being released.

5.Parthiv Patel

Gujarat’s wicket-keeper batsman Parthiv Patel was a part of the Chennai Super Kings in the 2008, 2009, and 2010 seasons. He played 26 games for CSK across the three tourneys and aggregated 516 runs at a strike rate of 102.79.

Later, he played for the Mumbai Indians and the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL. His numbers were exceptional for them. For MI, he scored 911 runs in 40 innings at a strike rate of 131.84, whereas for RCB, he has scored 731 runs in 22 innings at a strike rate of 130.07.

4.George Bailey

Former Australian T20I skipper George Bailey had began his IPL journey with the Chennai Super Kings. He played four matches for the team and scored just 63 runs at a strike rate of 95.45.

In 2014, he switched to the Kings XI Punjab. He led the Mohali-based franchise from the front by scoring 516 runs in 29 innings at a magnificent strike rate of 135.79.

3.Ankit Rajpoot

Very few fans might know that the current Rajasthan Royals pace bowler Ankit Rajpoot had started his IPL career at the Chennai Super Kings. He played just two matches for CSK, where he picked one wicket and had an economy rate of 8.75.

He performed extremely well for the Kings XI Punjab later in his career. Rajpoot scalped 14 wickets in 12 matches for KXIP, including a five-wicket haul. While for KKR, he picked seven wickets at an economy rate of 7.96.

2.Wriddhiman Saha

Wriddhiman Saha joined the Chennai Super Kings team after Parthiv Patel’s release. Because of MS Dhoni’s presence, Saha got to play only 14 games for CSK, where he scored 144 runs at a strike rate of 108.27.

In 2014, he moved to the Kings XI Punjab and became the first batsman to hit a century in an IPL final. Saha scored 1,115 runs in 49 innings for KXIP at a much better strike rate of 131.95. Currently, he is a part of SRH.

1.Chris Morris

South African all-rounder Chris Morris has played for four franchises in his career. Morris played 16 matches for CSK, where he scored just 14 runs and picked up 14 wickets.

Later, he moved to the Delhi Capitals and became a big name in the IPL. He scored 427 runs in 26 innings for DD at a strike rate of 160.53. He also picked up 41 wickets with his right-arm pace. Right now, Morris is a part of RCB.
