The India vs Afghanistan T20I series will begin on January 11. It will be a three-match series between two in-form teams right now. India and Afghanistan played in the final of the Asian Games cricket tournament last year in China, where rain forced the organizers to award the gold medal to the higher-ranked Indian team.

Now, the two teams will lock horns in a T20I series in a T20 World Cup year. The BCCI selection committee will be keen to try out some players before announcing the squad for the mega event. Here’s a list of five players whom India can recall.

    1. Shivam Dube can return for T20I series against Afghanistan

Shivam Dube was surprisingly left out of the T20I squad against South Africa. The all-rounder was in fine touch in IPL 2023 and deserves a longer rope before the T20 World Cup 2024.

    2. Rahul Tripathi can return for T20I series against Afghanistan

Rahul Tripathi showed a lot of intent in the few T20Is that he played for India last year. With Suryakumar Yadav injured, Tripathi can receive an opportunity to showcase his talent again.

    3. Axar Patel

All-rounder Axar Patel also missed out on a spot in the T20I squad against South Africa. Ravindra Jadeja might be rested for the Afghanistan series, allowing Axar an entry into the team again.

    4. Avesh Khan

Avesh Khan was fantastic with the ball in the ODIs against South Africa. Mohammed Siraj and Mukesh Kumar might be rested for T20Is against Afghanistan. Hence, Khan can make a comeback.

    5. Harshal Patel

Harshal Patel has disappeared from international cricket after the T20 World Cup 2022. Patel has done a great job as a death bowler for RCB. Perhaps, the selectors can give him one more opportunity to prove himself.
