IPL 2022 has seen plenty of instances wherein in-form players at the start of the tournament have not been able to replicate similar kind of form in the later stages of the tournament. A few of them have even been dropped from the XI. We take a look at such examples in this piece.

With the likes of Marcus Stoinis unavailable, Evin Lewis was part of the LSG XI for the first few games. In fact, against CSK, he played a blinder to won the game for his side. However, after Marcus Stoinis and Jason Holder returned, the West Indian batter lost his place in the XI. Even now, the hard-hitting cricketer is warming the bench at LSG.

2) Pat Cummins (Kolkata Knight Riders)

Pat Cummins is one of the players who won Man of the Match in IPL 2022 and were dropped from the XI a few games later. The Australian Test captain made a splash against Mumbai Indians by winning the game with the bat. However, in his primary skill, Cummins never did well. He was dropped from the XI and Tim Southee got a chance in the XI. Hence, he is also a part of this list.

3) Anuj Rawat (Royal Challengers Bangalore)

RCB rated Anuj Rawat highly and the Delhi youngster did well in the first few games. Against MI, he constructed a good partnership with Virat Kohli to help RCB cross the line. However, after that game, Anuj faced successive failures. Hence, he had to be dropped. Since then, the likes of Mahipal Lomror and Rajat Patidar have cemented their spots in the XI.

4) Shivam Dube (Chennai Super Kings)

Shivam Dube almost scored a hundred in the game against RCB. He, along with Robin Uthappa, made sure CSK won the game in the first innings itself. While Dube played the next few games, after MS Dhoni took over the captaincy, he was not included in the XI. It was not specified if he had an injury but Dube did appear comfortable in the dug-out. Nevertheless, the all-rounder has returned to the XI now.

5) Marco Jansen (Sunrisers Hyderabad)

Marco Jansen is also one of the players who won Man of the Match in IPL 2022 and were dropped from the XI a few games later. He was brilliant against RCB and helped his team bowl out the opposition for 68. However, he leaked a lot of runs in the subsequent games. Therefore, he was dropped from the XI.
