IPL is the pinnacle of all the cricket leagues. Despite the criticism it receives from some retired cricketers, the bottom line is that the Indian Premier League is the hottest property in the cricketing world, and no one can deny it.
The auction for the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League is scheduled to take place in the next month. Ahead of the auction, there have been multiple trades in the trading window. Big names like Lockie Ferguson, Jason Behrendorff, Shardul Thakur and Rahmanullah Gurbaz have changed their teams. This is not a new thing in the league. In the past, the following five players took advantage of the trading window and skyrocketed their careers.
1. KL Rahul, IPL 2016
KL Rahul was a part of SRH in 2015. The Hyderabad-based franchise traded him to RCB in 2016, and it proved to be a breakthrough season for him. Soon after, he became a regular member of the Indian squad.
2. Manish Pandey, 2009
Manish Pandey moved from Mumbai Indians to RCB ahead of the 2009 season. It proved to be a game-changer for him as he became the first Indian player to score a hundred in the tournament’s history.
3. Shardul Thakur, 2017
Shardul Thakur moved from Punjab Kings to Rising Pune Supergiant in 2017. He got to play with MS Dhoni there, and then in 2018, he joined CSK. The switch from Punjab to Pune elevated him to the next level.
4. Dinesh Karthik, IPL 2012
Dinesh Karthik moved from Punjab to MI in 2012. He had two fantastic seasons with Mumbai Indians and was back in the Indian squad for Champions Trophy in the year 2013.
5. Parthiv Patel, 2015
Parthiv Patel was an integral part of the MI squad that won the tournaments in 2015 and 2017. The left-handed wicket-keeper batter moved from RCB to MI as a part of a trade which happened in 2015.
