1. Youngest captain to win the Cricket World Cup

Kapil Dev played a once-in-a-lifetime inning of 175 runs in the World Cup group stage match against the Zimbabwean cricket team in 193. To date, no other player has broken his record of 175 runs at the number six position.
3. Kapil Dev achieved the highest rating points in ICC Rankings
Since he performed so brilliantly in the batting and bowling departments, Dev became the world number one all-rounder in the ICC ODI Rankings. He once achieved the rating of 631 points which is the highest by an all-rounder in ODIs to date.

Back in the year 1983, Kapil bowled a dream spell of 9/83 in a Test match against the West Indies cricket team in Ahmedabad. To date, he has the record for being the only captain to take 9 wickets in a Test innings.
5. Real all-rounder of Test cricket
Hundreds of cricketers have played Test cricket, but only one has achieved the feat of scoring 4000 runs as well as taking 400 wickets. His name is Kapil Dev, who aggregated 5,248 runs and picked up 434 wickets in 131 Tests.
