Recently, Ponting lost his second place on the list of batters with the most international hundreds as Virat Kohli overtook him. 1. Ricky Ponting has won the most ICC trophies
There is only one captain who has won more than three ICC trophies, and he is none other than Ponting. The former Australian captain won four ICC trophies – ICC World Cup 2003, ICC World Cup 2007, ICC Champions Trophy 2006 and ICC Champions Trophy 2009.
2. Ricky Ponting has won most matches as captain
Although the number of matches has increased considerably now, no captain has matched Ponting’s tally of 220 wins as captain. It will be interesting to see if anyone can break this record in the future.
3. Ricky Ponting has won most matches in World Cup
Ponting also owns the record for the most wins in World Cup matches. During his legendary career, he won 26 matches at the mega event.
4. Most wins in Champions Trophy
Just like ICC World Cup, Ponting also owns the record for the most victories in Champions Trophy history. He was a part of the winning team in 12 matches of Champions Trophy.
5. Most runs as captain
Ponting also tops the charts when it comes to scoring runs as captain, leading the team from the front. During his captaincy career, Ponting scored 15,440 runs for the Australian cricket team.
