Some of them did it before the start of their career, whereas some even did the same in the middle of their career.

Eventually, they stepped into the field of cricket with their unique names, but later on came to be known through their new names, which might seem strange today. Many Asian players feature on this list as they had decided to change their names because of religious reasons. Sometimes, it is fine to allow an individual to keep his private life a secret, but it automatically becomes a popular fact when the cricketer changes his name.

Asghar Afghan

Current Afghanistan’s side has been headed by Asghar Afghan in all the three formats of the game following his excellent career so far in this field. However, when he was a newcomer, he was known as Asghar Stanikzai. Suddenly he decided to change his name from Asghar Stanikzai to Asghar Afghan without even disclosing a particular reason.
