The famous English bowler whom we know for his mighty fast bowling had a different name previously, which was later on converted into Bob Willis. His original name was Robert George Willis. But as he was a massive fan of the great Musician Bob Dylan at that time, he decided to adopt Bob’s name.

He went through the entire legal procedures which are required to change the name and eventually became famous with his new name itself. His cricketing career was quite glittering as he bagged 325 Test wickets and 80 ODI wickets from the total number of matches he played. He even had 16 five-wicket-hauls to his name, which showcases his successful career.

You will be shocked to know that the popular Sri Lankan opener who was highly famous for his Dil Scoop during the early part of his century had given a new name to himself. Tillakaratne Dilshan was born in a family in Sri Lanka where the father was a Muslim, whereas the mother was a Buddhist.

He was initially named as Tuwan Mohammad Dilshan based on his father’s religion. But as they separated, later on, Dilshan decided to adopt his mother’s faith, which was Buddhism. Hence he removed Mohammad from his name and added Tillakaratne.
