5 things we are going to miss in IPL 2020 due to absence of Suresh Raina

Suresh Raina has been one of the best batsmen in IPL history. Raina held the record for the most runs by a batsman in the IPL, before Virat Kohli took over the number one position from him. The southpaw had rarely missed any match for his team. He was the captain of Gujarat Lions and vice-captain of Chennai Super Kings.

Unfortunately, some personal reasons have compelled the Uttar Pradesh-based player to return home despite being in quarantine for a few days. CSK issued a statement and then there were lots of rumors spreading in the media. Some reports have suggested that Raina could still play IPL 2020, but the chances are very low.

With Mr. IPL set to miss his first IPL season, here are the five things that fans will miss this year.

1.Encouraging and consoling

The fans might have noted that Suresh Raina is the first player to run to a bowler to hug him when he takes a wicket. It is also noticed when he is in the field and someone takes a brilliant catch.

His celebration style encourages the players do well and spreads positivity in the team. Sometimes, when the youngeters, even of the opponent teams are not able to do well, Raina is the first person to console them. Sadly, this will not happen in 2020.

2.Fielding

Be it taking brilliant catches in the deep or stopping some rocket speed shots or even turning the match with a direct hit out of nowhere, Suresh Raina is a player who can turn things around even as a fielder.

Chennai Super Kings had two of the best Indian fielders of all time in Ravindra Jadeja and Suresh Raina. Sadly, Raina will not pair up with Jaddu in IPL 2020.

3.Inside Out shots

Many left-handed batsman can play the inside out shots over the cover region, but none of them can match the beauty of the shots played by Suresh Raina.

Fans had already come to know that they will never see an inside out shot by Raina in the blue jersey, but in 2020, the same will not happen in yellow jersey also.

4.MS Dhoni-Suresh Raina bond in IPL

MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina have almost played their all IPL matches together. Raina and Dhoni were only separated in 2016 and 2017, when CSK received a temporary suspension from the IPL.

Dhoni could not play his natural game at Rising Pune Supergiant and failed to make it to the Top 4 in 2016. Next year, Raina failed to do the same for the first time in his career. Their friendship is of the next level and sadly, it will not be on our TV screens in 2020.

5.Partnership breaker for CSK

Suresh Raina is majorly hailed as the best batsman and fielder for CSK, but his bowling skills are often underrated by the fans. Raina was often used by Dhoni at Chepauk in the middle overs.

His right-arm off-spin troubled the left-handed batsmen and regularly helped in breaking partnerships of the opposition team. CSK will have to look for a new option this year.
