IPL has become the number one tournament in India for any cricketer to catapult his career to the next level. The Indian Premier League started in the year 2008, and 16 years later, it has become one of the most-valued sports leagues in the world.
It is common to see a player getting a place in the Indian team after a couple of impressive IPL seasons these days, but the following five underrated stars had to hang up their boots without getting a chance to represent India in T20Is.
1. One of the underrated IPL stars – Shahbaz Nadeem
Left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem recently announced retirement from all formats of cricket. Nadeem played 72 matches, scalping 48 wickets during his stints with DC and SRH. He played two Tests but never got selected in India’s T20I team.
2. One of the underrated IPL stars – Siddharth Trivedi
Former Rajasthan Royals pacer Siddharth Trivedi accounted for 65 wickets in 76 games of his career. His career derailed after his involvement in a scandal, and now he is living in the US.
3. Saurabh Tiwary
Left-handed batter Saurabh Tiwary was a main batter for Mumbai Indians once upon a time. He even got contracts from RPS, RCB and DC, but Tiwary retired without playing a single T20I.
4. Unmukt Chand
Unmukt Chand was the captain of India U19 team, which won U19 World Cup 2012. He even won the Indian Premier League with MI once, but Chand never made it to the senior team. He is living in the USA as well now.
5. Bipul Sharma
Left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder Bipul Sharma starred in SRH’s championship win back in 2016. However, he never got the attention of selectors, and he is now residing in the USA.
