Lanka Premier League is currently underway in Sri Lanka. It is the neighboring country of India, and the conditions at Sri Lankan venues are a bit similar to the ones in India, where the world’s biggest T20 league, the Indian Premier League happens every summer.
It is the dream of many players to play in the IPL. The overseas stars of IPL are also active in other tournaments like LPL. In fact, some unsold players of IPL are also playing in Lanka Premier League and dominating the tournament. Here’s a list of five such players.
1. Avishka Fernando is currently the joint leading run-scorer in Lanka Premier League
Sri Lankan batter Avishka Fernando has performed well in white-ball cricket over the last few years. He is also playing decently in LPL, scoring 311 runs in eight innings for the Jaffna Kings so far.
2. Pathum Nissanka is joint highest run-scorer in Lanka Premier League
Another Sri Lankan batter to feature on the list is Pathum Nissanka. Even he has aggregated 311 runs in eight innings, and interestingly, he plays for the Jaffna Kings franchise as well.
3. Tim Seifert
New Zealand batter Tim Seifert has played for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL in the past. Seifert is playing for Galle Marvels right now, and he has aggregated 291 runs for his team.
4. Dasun Shanaka
Former Gujarat Titans star Dasun Shanaka could not make the most out of the opportunity in IPL 2023. He remained unsold in 2024, but he has performed well in LPL, taking 12 wickets so far.
5. Isuru Udana
Former RCB all-rounder Isuru Udana retired from international matches long back, but he continues to be active in leagues. Udana has been unsold in IPL since 2020, but he has done a phenomenal job for Galle as an all-rounder in LPL.
