The ultimate intention of any sportsperson is to win trophies or medals in his career. While individual sports depend solely on a player’s performance, team sports rely on the culmination of individual contributions. The scenario in IPL is also very similar.

It has been thirteen seasons since IPL began and there are a few players who are yet to taste success at the highest level. They have been fine performers but they have just not been able to lift the trophy.

In this article, we talk about five players who have not won a single IPL winners medal despite playing more than 10 Seasons.

1. Virat Kohli

Of course, he is the No.1 name that comes to the fore in this category. Despite getting really close to the elusive title on three occasions, Virat Kohli has not managed to grasp the trophy. This is ironic considering Virat is the highest run-scorer in the history of the tournament. The situation also puts to light the fact that cricket is a core team sport. Much of Virat’s bad luck has been due to his underperforming teammates. Even the Indian captain has slipped at times. All of it has led to him still being trophyless in the tournament.

2. AB de Viliiers

Virat’s partner AB de Villiers is the second name on the list. ABD has played for two franchises and is yet to win a title. Yet again, this is an ironic situation. ABD is arguably the most entertaining player in the competition. He is a box-office figure in the tournament. He has played numerous winning knocks, but the title has not come his way. It is also sad to note that AB is probably in the last two-three final years of his IPL career. If not now, he will join the likes of Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag to be a trophyless candidate in IPL.

3. Chris Gayle

Third, on the list is Chris Gayle. Well, IPL cannot be imagined without a certain Jamaican monster at the heart of it. It was Chris Gayle who painted a brand for the tournament, and he is the man who pioneered the art of big-hitting in IPL. Him also being trophyless is yet again a conflicting circumstance. He has performed beyond expectations, and the chances of him winning an IPL trophy is very low at the moment.

4. Ajinkya Rahane

Despite going under the radar, Ajinkya Rahane has actually been a decent cricketer in IPL. He has played numerous match-winning knocks and has also been adequate with his captaincy skills. However, the trophy not has touched Rahane’s fingers as yet. The Mumbaikar was part of the Mumbai Indians squad for a while, but at that time, MI did not win any trophy. Rahane then played for Rajasthan Royals and Rising Pune Supergiant, where he yet again failed to win the title. In 2020, he was in the final with Delhi Capitals but ended on the losing side. If he does stay at DC next season, the chances of him breaking the streak would increase.

5. Amit Mishra

An underrated cricketer, Amit Mishra has been one of the veterans in IPL. He has picked truckloads of wickets, and just that he is not glamorous, Mishra is often pulled away from the limelight. He would also be ruing the fact that he is yet to bag an IPL trophy. Having played for franchises based out of Delhi and Hyderabad, Amit Mishra could be in the final year of his IPL career next season. He is 38, and he would really want to make the upcoming season count.
