26 matches have happened in IPL 2023, and there has been a unique Man of the Match award in each of the games. Because of the Impact Player rule, more and more players are getting opportunities to play this year, but here’s a list of the five world-class players who have been warming the benches this year so far despite being fit.
1. Quinton de Kock is yet to play in IPL 2023
Quinton de Kock joined LSG late because of an international series. Kyle Mayers replaced him and impressed straightaway. LSG have backed Mayers because of his magnificent performances.
2. Joe Root is yet to make his debut in IPL 2023
Former England captain Joe Root bagged his maiden IPL deal at the auction last December. The right-handed batter is a decent all-round option in the shortest format of the game, but there is no place for him in the Rajasthan Royals playing XI.
3. Matthew Wade
Gujarat Titans backed Matthew Wade a lot in the previous IPL season. Fans expected him to feature in GT’s playing XI after Kane Williamson’s injury but the good performances of domestic talents have kept Wade out of the playing XI.
4. Dasun Shanaka
GT signed Dasun Shanaka as a replacement for Williamson. Shanaka is one of the top finishers in world cricket, but at the moment, there is no place for him in the playing XI.
5. Akeal Hosein
Sunrisers Hyderabad roped in left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein. He is one of the most economical bowlers in the world. However, SRH have not selected him in the playing XI yet.
