Cricketers have achieved mastery in different skills in the modern era. Previously, the fast bowlers would rely majorly on their pace and swing for success. However, the variations have changed now with the likes of knuckle ball and slower deliveries helping the bowlers take wickets.
Similarly, in the batting department, the batters prefer playing 360-degree shots rather than just playing in the ‘V’. Also, the responsibility of scoring big runs is not just not the Top 4 batters of the team but also the players below them in the lineup.
Very few players have managed to play big knocks at number five or below. Here’s a list of the six cricketers with the most ODI hundreds at number five or below.
6. Andrew Symonds – 6
Former Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds holds the record for the most ODI hundreds at number five or below among Australian cricketers. The legendary player scored six hundreds at these batting positions.
5. Eoin Morgan – 6
Another big-hitter of the ball to appear on the list is Eoin Morgan. The former England captain registered six scores of 100 or more while batting at number five or below in ODIs.
4. AB de Villiers – 6
Former South African cricket team captain AB de Villiers also registered six centuries while batting at number five or below in ODIs. He earned the tag of ‘Mr. 360’ because of his ability to hit the ball in all directions.
3. Yuvraj Singh – 7
Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh was a big-match player. The left-handed batter saved India on many occasions and scored seven hundreds in ODIs, batting at number five or below.
2. MS Dhoni – 7
Former Indian captain MS Dhoni also recorded seven ODI hundreds while batting at number five or below. His world record was recently broken.
