Delhi Daredevils were one of the eight teams that participated in the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League. The Delhi-based franchise played under the name of Daredevils from 2008 to 2018. Ahead of IPL 2019, the team owners decided to change the name to Delhi Capitals.

Former Australian all-rounder Andrew McDonald played six matches for Delhi in his career. He scored 76 runs and picked up five wickets in those matches. McDonald is the head coach of Australia right now.
2. Former Delhi Daredevils player Daniel Vettori
Former Kiwi spin bowler Daniel Vettori is the assistant coach of Australia right now. Vettori played 12 matches for DD in the initial seasons, scalping 11 wickets.
3. Former Delhi Daredevils player Mahela Jayawardene
Sri Lanka team’s mentor Mahela Jayawardene was once the captain of Delhi in IPL. He joined the franchise in 2012 after the disbandment of Kochi Tuskers Kerala.
4. Sridharan Sriram
Sridharan Sriram is the head consultant for Bangladesh cricket team in T20 World Cup 2022. He played one match for DD, where he returned with figures of 0/25 in 1 over.
5. Morne Morkel
Morne Morkel won the Purple Cap while playing for DD in IPL 2012. He was one of the assistant coaches for Namibia in T20 World Cup 2022.
