BCCI announced India’s 15-man squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 yesterday evening on Twitter. Rohit Sharma will lead the Indian team this year in Australia. KL Rahul is the vice-captain, while there are some fresh faces like Deepak Hooda, Arshdeep Singh and Harshal Patel in the team, who did not play in the ICC T20 World Cup last year.

Since the two mega events are happening in the space of one year, there are not many changes in the Indian squad. However, the following six unlucky players missed out on an opportunity to play for India in the mega events in both years.

    1. T Natarajan could have been an X-factor in T20 World Cup

Left-arm pacer T Natarajan is enormously talented. However, his injury issues have not allowed him to play regularly. He could have been a solid addition to the Indian squad.

    2. Washington Sundar will miss T20 World Cup again

Washington Sundar was India’s number one T20I bowler on the rankings not long ago. Just like Natarajan, injuries have impacted his career a lot and he will miss this year’s mega event as well.

    3. Sanju Samson will miss T20 World Cup again

Wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson did not find a place in either of the squads. BCCI preferred the likes of Ishan Kishan, Dinesh Karthik, Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul ahead of him.

    4. Shreyas Iyer

Middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer performed well during India’s 2022 home season. However, he remains as a reserve player in 2022, just like 2021.

    5. Kuldeep Yadav

Left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav was once considered India’s main spinner, but the team management has not given him enough chances in recent months.

    6. Shikhar Dhawan

Opener Shikhar Dhawan watched the previous mega event from the stands, and it will be a similar scene this year as well. For some reason, Dhawan has not been picked in T20Is for India.
