Rajasthan Royals are looking for a replacement for Prasidh Krishna. The star Indian fast bowler will not participate in IPL 2023 because of a lumbar stress fracture.
He has been out of action for quite some time now, and even though IPL 2023 is still more than a month away, RR have already confirmed that their top Indian fast bowler will not make it to the tournament.
“Our coaching staff has been actively identifying and developing pacers from our trials and preparatory camps, as we work towards a decision on Prasidh’s replacement,” Rajasthan Royals wrote in a statement earlier today.
The next thing for RR is to sign a replacement, and here are the six possible candidates who can fill in that spot.
1. Dhawal Kulkarni might be replacement for Prasidh Krishna
Dhawal Kulkarni has not played in IPL since 2021, but he is a seasoned campaigner. A player like him can benefit the Royals a lot in 2023.
2. Varun Aaron might be replacement for Prasidh Krishna
Another experienced option available for the job is Varun Aaron. The right-arm pacer lifted the IPL 2022 championship last year with Gujarat Titans.
3. Sandeep Sharma might be replacement for Prasidh Krishna
The ideal choice for this role would be Sandeep Sharma. He can swing the ball and bowl well in powerplay overs, plus he has a lot of experience as well.
4. Barinder Sran
Left-arm fast bowler Barinder Sran was a net bowler for GT last year. Sran can bring variety to the RR pace attack if the team signs him.
5. Vijaykumar Vyshak
Karnataka’s medium pacer Vijaykumar Vyshak was quite successful in this year’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He scalped wickets and even remained economical with the ball.
6. Aniket Choudhary
Rajasthan domestic team’s highest wicket-taker in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022/23, Aniket Choudhary, will be a wildcard option for the role. He has represented RCB in the past.
