Jhye Richardson has suffered an injury ahead of Australia’s upcoming ODI series against India. The injury has ruled him out of the upcoming series as well as raised a question mark over his participation in the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League.
In case you didn’t know, five-time champions Mumbai Indians signed Jhye Richardson at the IPL 2023 Auction. He is a pace bowler. Since MI will also miss Jasprit Bumrah this year, they will likely want an overseas fast bowler as a replacement for Jhye if he is ruled out. Here’s a list of six candidates who can replace him:
1. Chris Jordan can replace Jhye Richardson
Chris Jordan has made a name for himself with his wicket-taking abilities in the T20 format. Jordan is also a big-hitter of the ball, which will give MI’s batting lineup some more depth.
2. Adam Milne can replace Jhye Richardson
Adam Milne has played for MI in the past. If he is fit and available to play, Mumbai Indians can consider signing him as a replacement.
3. Tymal Mills can replace Jhye Richardson
Another England player on the list is Tymal Mills. The left-arm fast bowler played for MI last season and did a decent job. MI may want to give him one more chance.
4. Riley Meredith
Riley Meredith also played for the Mumbai Indians last year. It will be interesting to see if he returns to MI this year as a replacement.
5. Gerald Coetzee
Gerald Coeztee was among the top performers in the SA20 tournament that happened earlier this year. Coetzee can be a fantastic addition to MI.
6. Dilshan Madushanka
Sri Lanka’s rising star Dilshan Madushanka wowed the fans with his performance at the Asia Cup. Dilshan could start his IPL journey with the MI side in 2023.
