IPL Salaries saw a drastic change in the same year for many players. Two IPL Auctions happened in 2022. The first one happened in February. It was a mega auction, where all the 10 teams built a fresh squad. Several star players received big contracts at the mega auction.
IPL 2022 happened a few months later, where the players got a chance to justify their price tags. Many players managed to do so, but a few players failed. The IPL teams released them, and there was a major decrease in their IPL Salaries when they went under the hammer last week. Here is a list of six such players.
1. Kyle Jamieson
New Zealand all-rounder Kyle Jamieson received a contract worth 15 crore from Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2021. He skipped the 2022 season but is back this year with a 1 crore contract from Chennai Super Kings.
2. Kane Williamson
Jamieson’s national team captain Kane Williamson was retained by SunRisers Hyderabad for 14 crore last season. This year, Gujarat Titans bought him for just 2 crore at the auction.
3. Odean Smith
Caribbean all-rounder Odean Smith received a 6 crore contract from Punjab Kings in IPL 2022. In IPL 2023, he will play for GT with a salary of 50 lakh.
4. Jhye Richardson
Australian speedster Jhye Richardson was sold for 14 crore to Punjab Kings in IPL 2021. Now, in IPL 2023, Mumbai Indians signed him for 1.5 crore.
5. Romario Shepherd
West Indies player Romario Shepherd received a massive deal worth 7.5 crore from SRH in IPL 2022. This year, Lucknow Super Giants signed him for 50 lakh.
6. Mayank Agarwal
Punjab Kings retained Mayank Agarwal for 14 crore in IPL 2022. The right-handed batter will play for SRH in IPL 2023, with his salary being 8.25 crore.
