IPL franchise Punjab Kings is among the few teams in the Indian Premier League to have participated in all the seasons played so far. Initially, the team was known as the Kings XI Punjab, but in 2021, the team changed its name to Punjab Kings.
Some big names of world cricket like KL Rahul, Yuvraj Singh, Mahela Jayawardene, Sam Curran, Adam Gilchrist, Eoin Morgan, Aaron Finch, Chris Gayle, Brett Lee, Kumar Sangakkara and Irfan Pathan have played for this franchise. While most of the fans would remember about the aforementioned names playing for Punjab once, not many members of the cricket universe would remember that the following six names played for PBKS once in IPL.
1. Varun CV played 1 match for Punjab Kings in IPL
Mystery spinner Varun CV made his Indian Premier League debut for Punjab Kings before moving to the Kolkata Knight Riders. Varun played only one game for PBKS in 2019 before he was ruled out of the competition.
2. T Natarajan played for Punjab Kings in IPL
India’s top left-arm fast bowler T Natarajan also had a brief stint with PBKS. He played six matches for the franchise in 2017. Later, he switched to SunRisers Hyderabad.
3. Ramnaresh Sarwan played for Punjab Kings in IPL
Former West Indies cricket team captain Ramnaresh Sarwan played four matches for Punjab in IPL. All of his four appearances came in the 2008 edition.
4. Mohammad Kaif
Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif also had a brief stint with the Mohali-based franchise. He played four matches for the team in the 2010 edition of the Indian Premier League.
5. James Faulkner
Australian all-rounder James Faulkner is best known for his contributions for Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Lions, but he also had a stint with Punjab. Faulkner played two games for PBKS in 2012.
6. Shardul Thakur
Shardul Thakur is one of the top names in Indian cricket, but PBKS gave him a chance when he was not so well-known. He made his IPL debut for Punjab in 2015 and it proved to be his only game for the franchise.
