There is a big question mark over MS Dhoni playing in IPL 2025. The Chennai Super Kings wicketkeeper handed over the team’s captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad ahead of IPL 2024. He played in all the matches but struggled with his knee injuries.
The Dhoni wave sent the entire nation into a frenzy once again, which is why Thala may consider playing at least one more season. However, it all depends on his fitness. In a chat with Dainik Jagran, a source close to CSK said that the team will try to get the best wicketkeeper option possible in case Dhoni does not play next year. 1. Rishabh Pant can replace MS Dhoni at CSK in IPL 2025
Rumors have been rife that Rishabh Pant is headed to CSK. There is a probable trade in talks between Delhi Capitals and CSK. It will be interesting to see if Pant actually joins CSK and replaces Dhoni.
2. Jitesh Sharma can replace MS Dhoni at CSK in IPL 2025
Jitesh Sharma’s role at Punjab Kings was similar to Dhoni’s role at CSK. He batted as a finisher and also kept the wickets. Considering that he has played for India and also captained Punjab Kings, Jitesh can be a solid option for CSK.
3. Dhruv Jurel
Dhruv Jurel has also made his debut for India. He showed a lot of promise while playing in the lower middle-order for the Rajasthan Royals. A player like Jurel can be a long-term asset for CSK.
4. Wriddhiman Saha
CSK have a habit of going after veteran players. Wriddhiman Saha is no longer in the scheme of things for India, but he is a great opening option in IPL. He can be a wildcard choice for this role.
5. Matthew Wade
Another veteran option available for this role is Matthew Wade. Having played for Joburg Super Kings in SA20, the left-handed batter can be a finisher and wicketkeeper for the Chennai Super Kings.
6. Rahmanullah Gurbaz
Due to mega auction rules, KKR will have to mostly release Rahmanullah Gurbaz from their squad. Gurbaz is a fiery opener and a game-changer for Afghanistan. CSK can benefit a lot if they acquire his services.
