Especially when players are under the pump, and the crowd is also noisy, umpires will have to do a neat job. 6) Nitin Menon – 63

Nitin Menon has already attained a sort of a cult status in umpiring. His recent umpiring decisions have been so accurate that very few DRS reviews have failed to overturn Menon’s decision. Born in Madhya Pradesh, Nitin Menon actually played first-class cricket for a while. He was part of just two games but could not make an impression as a batsman. He later switched to umpiring.

5) M Erasmus – 66

The South African had a decent career after stepping into the shores of umpiring. In local competitions, Erasmus played 53 FC games and 54 List A encounters and was pretty decent with his all-round show. However, it is as an umpire that Erasmus has gained popularity across the cricketing fraternity. He is one of the umpires who have stood for the most games in IPL so far.

4) C Shamshuddin – 89

Chettithody Shamshuddin only started umpiring in 2012. Yet, he happens to be one of the umpires who have stood for the most games in IPL so far. He has been part of 89 IPL fixtures so far and has done really well in giving decisions on the field. He deserves to referee in the competition for a few more years because he has been good in his task.

3) Kumar Dharmasena – 94

Now, who does not know Kumar Dharmasena as an umpire? He is there almost everywhere when it comes to ICC tournaments and also in IPL. A former Sri Lankan cricketer, Dharmasena played 31 Tests and 141 ODIs before trying his hand in umpiring. He was part of the panel of 18 umpires selected for the World Cup in India in 2011. The former off-spinner has also been promoted to the Elite Panel of ICC Umpires. In IPL, he is known to be calm under pressure and give accurate decisions.

2) A Chaudhary – 94

It is Anil Chaudhary who stands at No.2 on this list. A Delhi-born umpire, Anil has been part of IPL since 2012. He has officiated 94 games till now and is one of the most known faces on a cricket field. Till now, the umpire has also been part of over 40 ODI’s and 8 Tests.

1) S Ravi – 127

S Ravi is a popular name when it comes to umpiring, especially in IPL. He has been part of more than 100 IPL games, the only umpire to achieve that so far. Born in Bengaluru, Sundaram Ravi apart from umpiring in IPL is also a well-known name in international cricket. In fact, he has umpired around 60 Test matches, which in itself is a terrific achievement.
