Kochi Tuskers Kerala were one of the two new entrants in the 2011 edition of the Indian Premier League. They made their debut against the Royal Challengers Bangalore and lost their first-ever IPL match. It was a forgettable outing for the Kochi-based franchise as they lost a majority of their matches and failed to make it to the playoffs.
A few months later, the BCCI disbanded the franchise, and they are yet to make a comeback. The players who played for Kochi Tuskers Kerala also represented other teams, including Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL. Here’s a list of eight such players in the league.
1. Parthiv Patel played for Kochi Tuskers Kerala and RCB
Former Indian wicket-keeper batter Parthiv Patel played for both the franchises based from the southern part of India. In fact, the last season of his IPL career came as an RCB player.
2. Balachandra Akhil played for Kochi Tuskers Kerala and RCB
Uncapped Indian all-rounder Balachandra Akhil played the initial few matches of his IPL career for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. In 2011, he moved to the Kochi Tuskers Kerala.
3. Kedar Jadhav played for Kochi Tuskers Kerala and RCB
Kedar Jadhav was not a big name in Indian cricket when he played for the Kochi Tuskers. However, he had become a big name when he played for RCB in the 2017 season.
4. Brendon McCullum played for Kochi Tuskers Kerala and RCB
Another wicket-keeper batter who played for KTK in 2011 and then played the final season of his career for RCB was Brendon McCullum. He is currently the coach of England.
5. Muttiah Muralitharan
Former Sri Lankan off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan also represented both KTK and RCB. He has retired from all formats of cricket now.
6. Prasanth Parmeswaran
RCB fans would remember Prasanth Parmeswaran because he conceded 37 runs in an over against Chris Gayle while playing for KTK. Later in his career, Prasanth played for RCB.
7. RP Singh
Former Indian fast bowler RP Singh was one of the top bowlers in Indian cricket during his prime. Like the others on this list, Singh played for Kochi and Bangalore.
8. Vinay Kumar
The last name on the list is R Vinay Kumar. The former Indian pace bowler represented multiple franchises in his career, with two of them being Kochi Tuskers and RCB.
