The helicopter shot is one of the best shots that a player can use to counter the yorker delivery in the white-ball formats. It is a shot generally played in the death overs of an ODI or T20I match against the yorker deliveries. MS Dhoni made the shot popular.
The former Indian skipper also featured in a commercial for a beverage where he shared how one can learn how to play the shot using a normal technique. Later, during the movie MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, it was revealed that Dhoni learned this shot from his future brother-in-law in a gully cricket match. Interestingly, he taught Dhoni the shot for some samosas.

Indian vice-captain KL Rahul played a magnificent straight helicopter shot in the Asia Cup 2022 tournament. Fans were amazed to see how Rahul played the shot off a delivery bowled by Pakistan’s Naseem Shah in the Super Fours round.
2. Rishabh Pant played a left-handed helicopter shot
During the IPL 2019 season, Rishabh Pant launched an all-out assault on Mumbai Indians in the league stage. He played one of the best knocks of his career, and one of his shots was a top-class helicopter shot which went for a six.
