Indian cricketers have gained enormous fan following in recent years because of their stupendous performances on the field. The Indian cricketers are no less than the world’s most famous celebrities these days, but at the same time, the competition level for a place in the team has increased as well.
Not all players can have a long run in the team if they fail to score consistently. Some players have become one-format specialists as well. So, they have a lot of time off the field. A few of them try their hand in commentary and working as a cricket expert during their off seasons.
Dinesh Karthik started working as a commentator for Sky Sports and ICC before making a comeback to the Indian team. Here’s a list of four current Indian cricketers who have begun working as cricket experts.
1. One of the Indian Test cricketers – Cheteshwar Pujara
Test batter Cheteshwar Pujara is the latest addition to this list. He regularly plays for India in the longest format of the game, but India will not play any Tests in the next few months. So, Pujara has joined ESPNCricinfo as a cricket expert for the ongoing T20I season.
2. One of the World Cup winning Indian cricketers – Piyush Chawla
Leg-spinner Piyush Chawla made his debut as a commentator and cricket expert during IPL 2022. He was a part of the Hindi and English commentary panels for Star Sports during the long tournament.
3. Dhawal Kulkarni
Another bowler to feature on this list is Dhawal Kulkarni. He was a member of the Hindi, English and Marathi commentary panels for this year’s IPL season.
4. Robin Uthappa
Chennai Super Kings batter Robin Uthappa has started to work as a cricket expert for ESPNCricinfo. He plays regularly in IPL but has been away from international cricket for quite some time.
