The Royal Challengers Bangalore have inched a step closer to the IPL 2022 playoffs with a win against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in their most recent fixture. RCB played in the green jersey today and recorded a convincing victory against the Sunrisers.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and decided to bat first at the Wankhede Stadium. Virat Kohli lost his wicket on the first ball, but a splendid fifty from skipper Faf helped the Bangalore-based franchise finish with 192/3 in 20 overs.

Chasing 193 runs to win the match, the Orange Army lost wickets at regular intervals and eventually got all out for 125 runs. Wanindu Hasaranga stole the show with a five-wicket haul in the second innings.

Soon after RCB won the match, a Twitter used posted an interesting coincidence that the Royal Challengers Bangalore won only twice in the green jersey before, and both times, they finished runners-up. Thus, if the trend continues, RCB can make it to the IPL 2022 Final.

I was actually trying to get out because I was so tired: RCB captain Faf du Plessis

Faf du Plessis played the entire 20 overs of the Royal Challengers Bangalore innings and helped the team finish with a big score. Speaking at the post-match presentation, du Plessis said that he was also thinking about retiring out because he was very tired during his innings:

“If he (Dinesh Karthik) is hitting sixes like that, we want to get him in and bat as long as possible. He’s just so clear. To be honest, I was actually trying to get out because I was so tired, to get DK in. We were even contemplating – myself ‘retiring out’. And then, we lost that wicket. DK is in such good form,” said du Plessis.
