Delhi Capitals assistant coach Shane Watson recently gave his honest opinion on his compatriot Simon Katich leaving the Sunrisers Hyderabad team before IPL 2022. Katich was appointed the new assistant coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad just before the IPL 2022 season. However, after the IPL Mega Auction, Katich left the franchise.

According to reports in local media, Katich left the Sunrisers Hyderabad because of disagreements with the other members of the team management. However, in his official statement to SRH, Katich clarified that he was leaving because he could not stay in the bio-bubble for an extended period.

During his recent appearance on The Grade Cricketer podcast, Shane Watson opined on the situation surrounding Simon Katich and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Alarm bells started when Simon Katich left just after the auction. That’s normally not a great sight because Katich is one of the most generally good people. It’s really injustice really if people really go against what they say,” said Watson.

“Obviously something has gone down there that Katich stepped away immediately and won’t be a part of it. That’s a warning sign to start with,” he added.

Shane Watson said that Sunrisers Hyderabad team is not incredibly strong

During the same chat, Watson gave his views on the current Sunrisers Hyderabad squad. He analyzed the way the Orange Army performed in their first match of IPL 2022 against the Rajasthan Royals and said that they do not have an incredibly strong squad, plus things are not looking great for them.

The former Australian cricket team captain signed off by saying that if the atmosphere in the team is not proper, then the players may think of playing selfishly and just aiming to saving their spots in the playing XI instead of thinking about the bigger picture. SRH will play their next match against Lucknow Super Giants on April 4.
