Shoaib Akhtar talks about Virat Kohli

Akhtar has often talked about Virat Kohli and has expressed his admiration for the player. Regarding his bad form, the former pacer opined, “It is a performance-based IPL franchise model. No one will be spared, not even Virat Kohli. Even he can be dropped if he does not perform.”

Akhtar added, “He is a good person, a good player and a great cricketer, but I want him to just focus, on one thing at a time.” He later said that Virat must see himself as an ordinary cricketer. About this, he said, “Consider yourself as an ordinary player, pick up your bat and just play. People have already started pointing fingers at Virat Kohli and it’s dangerous.” A few of Akhtar’s suggestions do hold relevance and it needs to be seen if Virat can improve his form from now on.

Virat needs to gain momentum for RCB to do well

Virat is struggling in IPL 2022, as well. Barring two games, he has not got a lot of runs. He has also got out via two run-outs in six games already. Playing at No.3, Virat’s form is important for the franchise. The top order is struggling right now. Considering Faf du Plessis and Anuj Rawat are new to the franchise, Virat must do well for the franchise to progress. Therefore, it is high time for the former RCB skipper to start doing well. RCB has got four wins already and if the likes of Virat perform, they will do even better.
