The England cricket team has struggled a lot in the batting department over the last few years. Since the retirement of Andrew Strauss, Alastair Cook, Moeen Ali and other veteran players, the English batting lineup has not been the same. Most of the times, the team relies on the duo of Joe Root and Ben Stokes to deliver the goods.
In the ongoing match of the ICC World Test Championship series between the England cricket team and the West Indies cricket team, the visitors lost the toss and received an invitation to bat first at the National Cricket Stadium in Grenada. The West Indies cricket team got off to a dream start as they reduced their opponents to 90/8 in the first innings.
Kemar Roach, Jayden Seales, Kyle Mayers and Alzarri Joseph took two wickets each for the West Indies cricket team. Mayers has bowled a dream spell of 5-5-0-2 so far. He dismissed opening batter Zak Crawley and opposition captain Joe Root for a duck in his five-over spell.
“Bit of grass on the wicket. Helped us in getting some movement off the deck. So far, we have bowled better than what we did last two matches. Need to stick to our game and take the two wickets. Haven’t quite found out what the batters have understood from the wicket,” Jayden Seales said after the 2nd session of play.
