The Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam shocked everyone when he decided to retire out despite scoring a brilliant 90 runs in 59 balls in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 warm-up match being played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
The Pakistan cricket team is set to commence its ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 campaign on the 6th of October against Netherlands here is Hyderabad. But before that, they are playing a warm-up match against Australia.
Batting first, Australia scored 351 runs Glenn Maxwell, Cameron Green, David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne being the standout batters for Australia. Chasing the target, Pakistan lost 4 wickets for just 83 runs. But there on after, Babar Azam and Iftikhar Ahmed steadied the ship for Pakistan.
Babar was in great rhythm in the match, where Shadab Khan is leading the team while Babar was initially rested. But due to it being a warm-up, an unofficial match, anything is possible. Babar played some greats shots against the likes of Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc.
He was batting on 90 and closing in on his century, but shocked everyone when he decided to retire himself out of the match. Note that, retire out is not retire hurt. Retire hurt is when a player gets injured while batting, whereas, retired out is when the batter himself decided to discontinue.
Babar Azam retired out…!!!
