The match number 8 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is being played today the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad between the Sri Lanka cricket team and the Pakistan cricket team.
In their opening match of the tournament, Pakistan had beaten Netherlands at the very same venue whereas Sri Lanka suffered a defeat against South Africa.
It is the Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka who won the toss and opted to bat first. Pakistan got off to a great start as they got the wicket of Kusal Perera in just the 2nd over of the match. But then came to the pitch at number 3 Kusal Mendis. Mendis gave every Pakistani bowlers a treat as the 28-years-old scored 122 runs in just 77 balls with a strike rate of 158. He was eventually dismissed by Hasan Ali.
