It is always exciting to glance at the stats of the first-ever edition of the Indian Premier League. The current generation hardly remembers the happenings of that season, and hence, it is an interesting throwback. Here, we tell you about the highest six-hitters for CSK in IPL 2008.

5. S Badrinath – 8

Wait, you are surprised to find this name in this list, right? Well, we are too, but this is an eye-opener for many who branded S Badrinath as a non-aggressive cricketer. Nevertheless, with eight big hits in the first edition, he stands at No.5 on this list. Always used as a floater in the CSK XI, the Tamil Nadu batsman never missed a chance to make an impact. There have been several games where Badri has single-handedly won games for his side. After he left CSK, he never got ample chances to have an impression in any other franchise.

4. Michael Hussey – 11

Now, envision this. Michael Hussey played just four games in IPL 2008, and yet, with eleven sixes, he features in this list of highest six-hitters. Such was the man’s brilliance that his influence on CSK was enormous. Even after that season, the Aussie was extra-ordinary for the outfit. Unlike in Australia, where he played in the middle-order, the left-hander got his chances at the top in CSK. He utilized this to perfection and retired as one of the legends of the franchise.

3. Albie Morkel – 14

Albie Morkel was part of 13 games in the first season and overall hit the ball fourteen times out of the park. He is a well-known big-hitter and him achieving this feat is not much of a surprise. The South African’s entire career revolved around his ability to construct big hits, and he was a faithful servant of the Chennai Super Kings. After his stint at Chennai, Albie spent a little time at RCB, where he found it hard to rediscover his CSK-touch.

2. MS Dhoni – 15

One of the biggest six-hitters not only for CSK but also for Team India has been MS Dhoni. Hence, it does not come as astonishment that he takes up the No.2 position on this list. At that time, there were huge expectations from MSD. He had just won the ICC T20 World Cup and had made some really monumental knocks. The ‘Captain Cool’ ensured that his admirers were not disappointed. They are people who come to the stadium to watch him score those sixes, and MSD satisfied them with his show in IPL 2008.

1. Suresh Raina – 18

Well, for CSK, Suresh Raina remains at the top of the list in most of the batting-related charts. When he started out, not many imagined Raina to be a power-hitter. However, the man from Uttar Pradesh came out as a different batsman. Rather than mindless slogging, the left-hander improved on his timing, which gave him the opportunity to strike many sixes. At IPL 2021 too, it will be expected that Suresh Raina will perform a similar role.
