Rohit Sharma has had a tough time as the captain of the Indian cricket team, especially in the T20I format. After starting his stint as the full-time captain of India with a big winning streak, Sharma has failed to lead the Men in Blue to victory in some big matches of late.

Earlier this month, the Indian cricket team crashed out of the Asia Cup 2022 tournament in the Super Fours round only despite starting the competition as the favorites. They lost to Pakistan and Sri Lanka and failed to make it to the final match of the tournament.

The Indian cricket team is currently hosting the Australian cricket team for a three-match T20I series, and the first game happened earlier tonight at the PCA Stadium in Mohali. India scored 208 runs after being asked to bat first. Many fans backed India to win the match because the Australian cricket team did not have David Warner, Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Marsh and Marcus Stoinis in the squad.

However, some brilliant batting performances from Cameron Green, Matthew Wade and Steve Smith guided the Aussies home. Here’s what Rohit had to say after the Indian cricket team’s defeat:

“I don’t think we bowled that well. 200 is a good score to defend but at the same time we didn’t take our chances on the field as well. That can happen – yes there are things we have to look at but it’s a great game for us to understand where we went wrong and what we can do better next game.”
