    India’s Playing XI when they lost to Bangladesh in 2007 World Cup – Where are they now?

    Team India has done a tremendous job in the ongoing World Cup 2023 at home. They have won three out of three games so far, with six points at the top of the points table. The Indian team will now lock horns with Bangladesh in their next game on Thursday.

    That game will take place at the MCA Stadium in Pune. India will look to win that game to collect two more points that will help them move ahead in the path to the semi-finals. But Bangladesh will not be an easy opponent to get away with. Notably, Bangladesh have beaten India three out of the last four ODI games.

    In fact, Bangladesh beat India in the 2007 World Cup, which was the prime reason that India got knocked out of that World Cup. So let’s check out the playing XI for India that were part of that game when India lost to Bangladesh, and where are they now?

    Openers – Sourav Ganguly and Virender Sehwag

    Sourav Ganguly and Virender Sehwag opened for India. Sehwag got out after scoring 2 runs, while Ganguly was the top scorer with 66 off 129 balls. Both have taken retirements. Ganguly also served as BCCI President, and his tenure ended almost a year ago. Sehwag turned his career into Hindi commentary after retirement.

    Middle Orders – Robin Uthappa, Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid

    Robin Uthappa batted at No. 3 and scored nine runs. He played in the IPL after getting dropped from the Indian team, but in 2022 he announced his retirement from the IPL as well. But he is playing in other leagues after retiring. Sachin Tendulkar batted at No. 4 and scored 7 runs. After taking retirement, Sachin became an important member of the five-time IPL champion Mumbai Indians. Rahul Dravid was the captain of the team and made 14 runs. He is currently the head coach of the side that is playing in the World Cup 2023.

    Finishers – Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni

    Yuvraj Singh played an important inning in that game and scored 47 runs. He played in a few IPL franchises. In 2019, Yuvraj Singh announced his retirement. Since then, he has featured in a couple of leagues for former cricketers. MS Dhoni led India to a World Cup win in 2011. He retired from international cricket in 2019 but is currently playing in the IPL for the Chennai Super Kings as a captain.

    Bowlers – Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Ajit Agarkar and Munaf Patel

    Harbhajan Singh was India’s specialist spinner in that game. He has retired from all forms of cricket and has turned into a commentator. Zaheer Khan, Ajit Agarkar, and Munaf Patel were the pacers in the team. Zaheer has also opted for a career in commentary and is part of the Mumbai Indians in the IPL. Munaf didn’t get many chances, though he was part of the 2011 World Cup. But now he is not engaged in any cricket-related job. Agarkar has become India’s chief selector.
