IPL 2020: 6 players CSK can sign in mid-season transfer

12023

The Chennai Super Kings have not made the best start to their IPL 2020 campaign. The Chennai-based franchise had defeated the Mumbai Indians in the first match of the season, but after that they have won only one of the last five matches. It is noteworthy that CSK’s second win came against the Kings XI Punjab, who are themselves struggling to gain any momentum.

The Chennai Super Kings will look to take the maximum advantage of the mid-season transfer window, where the teams can swap players. The rule is that each should have played 7 games, the players can be capped or uncapped, but if they have played more than 2 games in IPL 2020, they will not be eligible for trading. So, CSK have many good options on their bench when it comes to the bowling section, but the same cannot be said about their batting department.

Chennai will aim to bolster their batting lineup by trading a bowler or two. Here are the six players CSK can sign in the mid-season transfer.

1.Manan Vohra

CSK need a solid Indian name in the top order. Ambati Rayudu has been doing well, but Kedar Jadhav and Ruturaj Gaikwad have looked out of touch in IPL 2020.

Manan Vohra can be a solid addition to the team. He could open with Shane Watson or even bat at number four. Vohra did an incredible job for KXIP in the past, but he is warming the benches for RR this season.

2.David Miller

As mentioned ahead, CSK have some terrific options in their bench strength when it comes to the bowling unit, but their batting is not so strong. A player like David Miller can solve this problem.

Of late, CSK have struggled to finish off the run chases. Miller could be signed from RR and given how talented he is, Miller could do the finisher’s job to perfection for CSK.

3.Prasidh Krishna

Prasidh Krishna has surprisingly not played a match in IPL 2020 so far. He is a member of the Kolkata Knight Riders team, but they have used the other pace bowling options.

Prasidh could join Chennai Super Kings because CSK need a solid Indian pacer who can support Deepak Chahar. In case DJ Bravo or Sam Curran have a bad day, CSK would have another good fast bowling option.

4.Tom Banton

Before the IPL Auction 2020, there were reports that the Mumbai Indians and the Chennai Super Kings were interested in signing Tom Banton. However, it did not happen.

CSK had interest in Banton and they can rope him in now because KKR are unlikely to give him an opportunity to play. Banton can open with Watson, while du Plessis can return to the number 3 or number 4 position. Banton could provide strong starts to CSK.

5.Ishant Sharma

Speaking of Indian pacers, another name that CSK could sign is Ishant Sharma. He is with the Delhi Capitals and has played only one match in IPL 2020 so far.

Sharma has played much cricket with MS Dhoni. So, the skipper would know how to use Sharma in the 20 overs. Because of this reason, Ishant stands a chance to be traded.

6.Saurabh Tiwary

Saurabh Tiwary looked in excellent touch while playing for the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2020. He was the top-scorer for MI in the match against CSK.

However, MI dropped him after Ishan Kishan was available to play. Tiwary may not get another chance at MI but he can do the finishing duties for CSK if given a chance. Thus, these are the six players that CSK can sign in the trade window.
