IPL 2020: 6 players RCB can sign in the mid-season transfer

The Royal Challengers Bangalore have made a solid start to their IPL 2020 campaign, winning three of the first five matches. While RCB have almost all bases cleared this year, the injury to Chris Morris did not allow them to play to their full strength. Morris is expected to be available soon for the Bangalore-based franchise.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore team management might still want to participate in the mid-season transfer activities because there are still a few weak points in the RCB squad. Their lower middle order is not so solid, while Aaron Finch has also struggled with consistency. Besides, there is also room for improvement in the fast bowling department.

Here are the six players that the 3-time IPL runners-up can sign in the mid-season transfer.

1.Mitchell McClenaghan

The Mumbai Indians have surprisingly not used Mitchell McClenaghan’s services in IPL 2020 so far. They have preferred the trio of Trent Boult, James Pattinson, and Jasprit Bumrah.

Since McClenaghan is unlikely to play for MI, they should trade him to RCB for a spin-bowling option. RCB only have Isuru Udana as their left-arm pace bowling option. Adding McClenaghan will bolster RCB’s fast bowling attack.

2.Alex Carey

Coach Ricky Ponting had said that Alex Carey would play a role at the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2020. However, DC have not used him in this season so far.

RCB need a solid finisher. Plus, Carey’s availability would help AB de Villiers relax himself from the keeping duties. Thus, RCB might go after Alex Carey.

3.Chris Lynn

While Aaron Finch has done a good job in IPL 2020, the opening pair of Chris Lynn and Devdutt Padikkal could do wonders for RCB in IPL 2020.

The Bangalore-based franchise has not played a single match in Sharjah so far. Thus, they should think of signing Lynn from MI for the remaining matches of the season.

4.Prasidh Krishna

The Kolkata Knight Riders have many options in their pace bowling unit. Because of that reason, they have not given Prasidh Krishna a chance so far in IPL 2020.

Krishna had impressed Virat Kohli because in one of his interview, the Indian captain had said Prasidh could be in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup if he impressed in IPL. However, since he is not getting opportunities at KKR, RCB should try to get him and strengthen their fast bowling attack.

5.Deepak Hooda

All-rounder Deepak Hooda is warming the benches at Kings XI Punjab. The Mohali-based franchise will probably not use him in this season.

So, RCB should sign him in the trade window. Their finishers have not been so consistent in the IPL. So, signing Hooda could make that department much stronger.

6.Lockie Ferguson

Last but not the least, RCB can sign Lockie Ferguson in the trade window. The Kiwi pacer has not earned a place in the KKR playing XI so far in IPL 2020.

RCB’s foreign pacers have been quite expensive. A player like Ferguson could solve that problem. Thus, RCB could look to gain his services in the trade window.
