Although the Rajasthan Royals managed to win the match against the Kolkata Knight Riders, the RR fans received another disappointing news in IPL 2021. After the match against the Kolkata-based franchise, Kumar Sangakkara disclosed that Andrew Tye was heading back to Australia, forcing RR to start hunting for Andrew Tye’s replacement.

Tye had not played a single match for the Royals in the 2021 edition of the IPL. However, he could have been a great back-up option in the pace department. The Royals will look to sign Andrew Tye’s replacement soon because they only have four overseas players left in the squad.

Here are the six possible options for Andrew Tye’s replacement.

6. Sheldon Cottrell

The Rajasthan Royals proved against the Kolkata Knight Riders that left is right in IPL. They went in with multiple left-arm fast bowling options and the decision proved to be a masterstroke.

RR could further stack their pace attack by signing Sheldon Cottrell as Andrew Tye’s replacement. The left-arm fast bowler from West Indies could be a game-changer for Rajasthan.

5. Neil Wagner

Another left-arm fast bowling option available on the unsold list is Neil Wagner. The Kiwi speedster has made a name for himself with his brilliant bowling performances.

Wagner could bring the firepower to the Rajasthan Royals bowling attack. He has not played in the IPL yet, but he can trouble the batsmen with his skills.

4. Matt Henry

Former Chennai Super Kings fast bowler Matt Henry is another Kiwi player to appear on this list. Henry has the experience of playing in the Indian Premier League.

The New Zealand-based player is a right-arm quick just like Andrew Tye. Hence, he could be a like-for-like replacement in the Rajasthan Royals squad.

3. Will Oshane Thomas return to RR as Andrew Tye’s replacement?

Caribbean pacer Oshane Thomas had been a part of the Rajasthan Royals in the previous IPL seasons. Thomas played four matches for the Royals, where he picked up five wickets.

Since he has done well in the shorter formats, Thomas could return to the Jaipur-based franchise. He can support the likes of Chris Morris, Jaydev Unadkat, Mustafizur Rahman and Chetan Sakariya in the RR pace attack.

2. Carlos Brathwaite could join RR as Andrew Tye’s replacement

Another player from the West Indian team to feature on this list is Carlos Brathwaite. The Caribbean all-rounder has played for three teams in the IPL before.

He has been a member of the Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals. Brathwaite is a similar type of player like Chris Morris and can strengthen the RR batting lineup a bit.

1. Tim Southee

The Rajasthan Royals could consider Tim Southee as Andrew Tye’s replacement because of his experience. Of late, he has captained New Zealand as well.

So, Southee can not only lead the pace attack, but he can also support Sanju Samson in the leadership group. It will be interesting to see which player joins RR. Since they have only four foreign players remaining in the squad, the Royals will likely announce a replacement in the coming days.
