But before even we kick-off the IPL 2024 action, the IPL Governing Council Member, the chairman of the IPL, Arun Dhumal has confirmed that there will be a mega Player Auction held before the IPL 2025, giving the teams an opportunity to freshen up their roster. Each team would be allowed to retain a maximum of 3-4 players. Thus, fans are already busy discussing who their favourite team will retain ahead of the IPL 2025 Player Auction. In this article, we take a look at the players who Chennai Super Kings (CSK) may retain ahead of IPL 2025 Mega Auction.

Ravindra Jadeja

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) would love to retain the services of their long serving all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja ahead of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. Jadeja is a players who is equally good in 3 dimensions of the game, be it bowling, batting and we don’t need to speak about his fielding. Jadeja currently earns 16 crore and would be retained for the same amount. The 35-years-old could also be a captain option if the team wants, although his first stint as captain did not work.

Ruturaj Gaikwad

The 27-years-old Ruturaj Gaikwad, who earns currently 6 crore, has been a bright prospect for his team. Many fans also taught him as the next captain of the team after MS Dhoni and his batting prowes is there to see for everyone. He scored 590 runs in 16 matches in IPL 2023 and helped his team win the Trophy. He has been consistently scoring good runs and is certainly the future of the team for next 6-8 years.

Any other options?

It is difficult to mention any other players same without seeing their performance in the IPL 2025 Auction. MS Dhoni, the visionary, is certainly likely to retire after IPL 2024, thus we have excluded him from the list. Ajinkya Rahane is also 35 and will be 36 in June, thus his retention is very unlikely while Deepak Chahar, who earns whopping 14 crore, has not performed enough to justify his price tag and certainly likely to released. Retaining Shivam Dube will also depend on his performance in IPL 2024 while some of the young players would have delivered strong performances to ensure retention, thus, only Jadeja and Ruturaj Gaikwad seem likely the only confirmed retention as of before the IPL 2024.
