Chennai Super Kings – Parthiv Patel

It was Parthiv Patel who made the first-ever run for Chennai Super Kings. One of the most successful sides in the competition, CSK is always popular for its powerful batting line-up. In the second game of IPL 2008, CSK took upon Kings XI Punjab. CSK was batting first, and Parthiv Patel walked in as one of the openers. Brett Lee was the opposition’s bowler, and the wicket-keeper batsman picked a single off the Aussie pacer.

Gautam Gambhir was the first player from Delhi to score a run in IPL. It was an easy chase for his team in this encounter. Gambhir scored two boundaries in the very first over from Munaf Patel. GG also helped his team win this game comfortably.

Kings XI Punjab – Karan Goel

KXIP were playing against a good team, and a strong start was necessary. For CSK, it was Jacob Oram who came to bowl the first over. An experienced campaigner, little did Oram expect that he would be blasted for a boundary on his first-ever IPL delivery. Karan Goel was the man behind the occurrence. Hence, Karan became KXIP’s first player to score a run.

Kolkata Knight Riders – Brendon McCullum

The first-ever game of IPL can never be forgotten. It was a batting masterclass in which Brendon McCullum’s 158 set the tournament on fire. Of course, he was also the first player to score runs off the bat for KKR. It was a boundary, and the event occurred with RCB’s Zaheer Khan as the bowler. Surprisingly, the first runs off the bat came in the second over. The first over bowled by Praveen Kumar was a maiden as only two leg-byes were conceded.

Mumbai Indians – Luke Ronchi

Praveen Kumar was the bowler on this occasion. Luke Ronchi scored a boundary of the second ball of the over. This way, he made his name in the history books as Mumbai Indians’ first run-getter. Doing this for a team that is as successful as MI, Luke Ronchi would forever be proud of his achievement.

Rajasthan Royals – Taruwar Kohli

The beauty of IPL was on display in this game. IPL’s specialty lay in young Indian talents taking on against established international stars. Glenn Mcgrath is a superb bowler, and he was bowling the first over for Delhi. He had bowled five good balls, but on the final delivery, it was the batsman who came on top. Youngster Taruwar Kohli scored a six and brought about the first runs for his franchise.

Royal Challengers Bangalore – Rahul Dravid

Now, with a massive target to chase, any team would have lot of things to worry about. For RCB, their worse nightmares came about on the first day of the competition. Brendon McCullum had taken apart RCB’s bowling line-up and had helped his team set an unrealistic target for the boys in red. For RCB, it was their icon-player and captain Rahul Dravid who took the crease. He took a single off Ashoke Dinda in the first ball of the very first over, thereby becoming the first RCB cricketer to score a run.

Deccan Chargers (Sunrisers Hyderabad) – Adam Gilchrist

Deccan Chargers’ first game in IPL was against Kolkata Knight Riders. Considering KKR had won their first game convincingly, it was a tough game for DC. Opening the batting for the men from Hyderabad was Australian wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist. He is also the first player from this franchise to score a run for the team. Gilly’s run came from the bowling of KKR’s Ashoke Dinda.
