The 2022 edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League is currently underway in Tamil Nadu. A massive controversy happened in the first match of the new season as Narayan Jagadeesan of the Chepauk Super Gillies ended up showing the finger to Baba Aparajith of the Nellai Roy Kings for running him out at the non-striker’s end.
Running out a batter while he steps out of the crease at the non-striker’s end is a legal form of dismissal in cricket. Earlier, there used to be the Spirit of Cricket related debate about it, but all things have changed under the new rules. This mode of dismissal came into the limelight during an IPL match between the Punjab Kings and the Rajasthan Royals.
At that time, Ravichandran Ashwin was the captain of the Punjab Kings team and he ran out a well-set Jos Buttler at the non-striker’s end. It proved to be a game-changing point. In TNPL match, Narayan Jagadeesan was on 25 runs off 15 balls, when Babar Aparajith dislodged the bails at the non-striker’s end with Narayan out of the crease.
Although it is within the rules of the game, Jagadeesan was very unhappy. He expressed his unhappiness by showing the finger on his way back to the dressing room.
Fans have mixed reactions to the behavior of Narayan Jagadeesan
