Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the T20 World Cup 2022 due to a back injury. He made his comeback in the T20I series against Australia after he was declared fit by NCA. However, he missed out on the South Africa T20I series after he sustained an injury once again.

Bumrah’s injury is a big blow to Team India as the right-handed bowler has been the side’s lead pacer across all formats over the past few years. Especially in T20 cricket, there is no one who comes close to him given his wicket-taking ability and producing economical overs even in death overs.

Ever since news of Bumrah’s injury broke, fans have started calling out on his patriotism. Many feel that he always participates in the IPL but when it comes to International cricket, he misses most of the games due to some reason or the other.

Amid the criticisms, the 28-year-old cricketer uploaded a story on Instagram. The quote read, ‘You’ll never reach your destination if you stop and throw stones at every dog that barks’.

Who is Jasprit Bumrah’s replacement?

Team India sealed an impressive series win against South Africa in the T20I series by 2-1. Both sides will now lock horns in a three-match ODI series, which will be their last assignment before heading into the marquee event. However, the Men in Blue have named a secondary squad for the ODI series as the main squad will fly to Australia to prepare for the event.

Though there is no official statement about who would replace Jasprit Bumrah in the XI, there is speculation that veteran pacer Mohammed Shami is the front runner in the race. But his fitness will determine if he walks into the side or not as he has missed the last couple of series.

If Shami remains unfit, then either Deepak Chahar or Mohammed Siraj will get the nod from the management. Both the pacers are currently named on the reserve list. It remains to be seen who gets the final cut for the multi-nation tournament.
