England’s rising T20 star Benny Howell has an excellent record in the shortest format of cricket. However, he did not receive even one chance to prove himself in IPL 2022. Punjab Kings signed him at the mega auction earlier this year but kept him on the benches for the entire season.

Fans should note that Benny Howell has played 162 T20 matches in his career. He has scored 2,182 runs at an average of 22.72, with his strike rate being 130.50. He has six half-centuries to his name in T20 cricket. Benny bowls right-arm medium pace as well. He has taken 167 wickets in 162 T20 matches, with his best bowling figures being 5/18.

Despite his good numbers as an all-rounder, Punjab Kings kept him on the bench. Benny was upset after he did not receive a place in the playing XI even for the dead rubber game against the SunRisers Hyderabad.

Punjab Kings posted a photo of Benny Howell on social media

Recently, Punjab Kings shared a question for their fans on Twitter. They posted an edited picture of their squad’s seven overseas players and asked who was the best performer. The picture also featured Benny Howell.

However, it probably did not go down well with Howell. He quoted the tweet and replied:

“Just remember, I provided plenty of hydration for the lads and never ran out of towels.”

Howell is playing for Gloucestershire in county cricket right now

After the completion of IPL 2022, Benny returned home and joined Gloucestershire for the T20 Blast competition. In his most recent outing against Glamorgan, he bowled an impressive spell of 2/34 and scored one run with the willow.

It will be interesting to see if the Punjab Kings retain Howell for the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League.
