“It’s time to show them” – Mahela Jayawardene reacts to Bangladesh’s claim of Sri Lankan bowlers “not world class” remark before Asia Cup 2022 clash

The Asia Cup 2022 is on in full swing as Team India from Group A and Afghanistan from Group B have already qualified for the Super 4 round of the competition. The third team for the Super 4 round will be decided tonight when Bangladesh and Sri Lanka takes on each other.

Afghanistan and Team India registered back-to-back win in their respective opening 2 matches of the group stage and have qualified for the Super 4 round. While Team India beat Pakistan and Hong Kong in their 2 matches, Afghanistan got the better of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Tonight, on the 1st of September, the hosts Sri Lanka takes on the struggling Bangladesh team in pursuit to confirm their entry into the Super 4. Note that whoever of the 2 wins the match, will make it to the Super 4.

Meanwhile, before the match, Bangladesh coach have claimed that Sri Lanka’s bowling attack is not as good as Afghanistan’s. Even some of the Bangladesh players also have conveyed the same message to the media.

However, former Sri Lanka cricketer and legendary captain Mahela Jayawardene didn’t take it light-heartedly. The veteran took to his official Twitter handle and urged to all the Sri Lankan bowlers to showcase their talent.

“Looks like it’s time for @OfficialSLC bowlers to show the class and batters to show who they are on the field,” Jayawardene tweeted.

Note that Bangladesh batters were absolutely dismantled by the Afghanistan bowlers as they could only score 127 runs from being 5 down for less than 60 runs at one stage.
