Mohammed Siraj is currently one of the top talents in the cricket world. He has the ability to swing both ways with the new ball, which is an evident weakness of many batters. In the absence of World Cup-bound players, he was given an opportunity in the ODI series against South Africa.

The pacer had a great day with the ball in the 2nd ODI as he picked up three wickets in his eight overs of the spell, including a maiden over. However, one incident that caught the attention of the netizens was when Siraj argued with the on-field umpire after giving away four runs in the overthrow.

The incident happened in the 48th over when Siraj was able to beat Keshav Maharaj, who was on strike. Indian wicketkeeper Sanju Samson returned the ball to the right-arm pacer who then attempted to run out David Miller, the non-striker. He threw the ball aiming at the stumps but the ball missed the stumps and raced towards the boundary.

As a result, the umpire gave the batting team four runs as an overthrow. Following the incident, Siraj was seen arguing with the umpire as he assumed the ball to be dead. But the umpire stayed firm on his incident for the fact that if the ball had hit the stumps, the bowling side would have appealed for the run out.

Here’s how Twitter reacted to the incident:

Speaking of the game, India managed to restrict the Proteas to 278. Coming out to chase, Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill were shown the pavilion way at the early stage. Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan are sailing the ship under pressure and both have crossed the 50-mark individually.
