IPL 2023 Auction is still a few months away, but the cricket universe is already abuzz with discussions about the player retention. Since it will be a mini auction, the 10 franchises will probably retain a majority of their players. However, there is a question mark over the retention of Ravindra Jadeja.
Last year, Chennai Super Kings announced Jadeja as their number one retention with a salary of 16 crore INR. MS Dhoni stepped down as captain and handed over the leadership to Jadeja. It seemed like Jadeja would be the next face of the CSK franchise, but the story was quite different by the end of IPL 2022.
After a poor show as a captain and a player, Ravindra Jadeja stepped down as the skipper. MS Dhoni took the captaincy back. To make matters worse for CSK, Jadeja picked up an injury and missed the final phase of the competition.
Earlier this month, Jadeja deleted all posts related to Chennai Super Kings from IPL 2021 and 2022 on his Instagram profile. Fans felt that this could be a sign of a potential departure. Reacting to that, an official of the CSK franchise told news agency ANI:
“See, this is a personal call by him. We are not aware of such kinds of incidents from our side. All OK. Nothing is wrong.”
